Julie, Violist
Julie holds degrees from Northwestern University and The Julliard School of Music. She has performed with The Capriccio Ensemble since 1999 as integral part of our string trios and quartets and as a part of larger ensembles. Julie was hailed as a "strong soloist" by The New York Times and is a versatile performer, comfortable performing a variety of musical styles. As an orchestral musician, Julie has performed with the New Jersey Symphony, Opera Orchestra of New York, Westfield Symphony, Opera Saratoga, and numerous other orchestras. Her experience with new music includes premieres of works for solo viola, including a collaboration in India with dance and film star, Mallika Sarabhai, featuring music for solo viola and electronics. Recently, Julie has performed at cabaret shows with soprano Lauren Flanigan which feature the music of Kurt Weill; and she has played with sitar player, Nana Simopoulous at St. John the Divine. In past years, she toured extensively with tap dancer, Savion Glover; and performed with rock and Latin music bands. Away from music, Julie is passionately involved in fitness for cancer survivors, recently launching a fitness website for survivors. In her leisure time Julie can be found rock climbing, birding and also participating at running/jogging marathons and metes.
